Reverend Catrina R. Waters
In October of 2013, Bishop Dennis V. Proctor appointed Rev. Catrina Waters as the 1st female pastor of the Historic Hilliard Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church.
Pastor Catrina Waters is a dynamic preacher and gifted motivational speaker, leader, teacher and counselor. She takes a holistic approach to inspire people to become all that God has created them to be in life. She desires to help people develop a personal relationship with God, to grow spiritually and apply biblical teachings to real life circumstances.
Pastor Waters received her spiritual calling to the preaching ministry in 2004. After graduating with honors from high school in St. Louis, Missouri, she proceeded to college, and earned a Bachelor's degree in Accounting from Tennessee State University. Immediately following graduation, she moved to Montgomery, Alabama and started a career in finance. Her thirst for more knowledge led her to Ambridge University, where she would earn a Masters Degree in Management and Organizational Leadership. In 2016, Rev. Catrina R. Waters graduated with honors from Hood Theological Seminary with a Master of Divinity degree.
In August of 2000, she married Kenneth Waters, and together they are the parents of two beautiful and dynamic children, Noah and Noelle. She became a member Old Ship AME Zion Church, and served in various rolls, including the choir and Sunday School Superintendent.
Pastor Waters supplied Weeping Mary A.M.E. Zion Church in 2006 and was later appointed to be the pastor by the late Bishop James E. McCoy. She served faithfully for five years before, Bishop McCoy appointed her to St. Mark A.M.E. Zion Church in Ozark, AL. In 2013, Bishop Dennis V. Proctor appointed her to the historic Hilliard Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church as its 1st female pastor.
She currently serves As the Director of Partners in ministry for the Alabama-Florida Episcopal District, Treasurer for the Central Alabama Conference, Assistant Presiding Elder for the East Montgomery District as well as District Director of Evangelism.
In the secular world, she is the Assistant Director of the Maternal and Child Health Pipeline Training Program at Alabama State University. As a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Montgomery Alumnae Chapter, she serves as Chaplain and is active on numerous committees. She is also a member of the Montgomery Chapter of Jack and Jill of America.
